as much as i spent quite a bit of time traveling the country reconnecting and meeting friends, i also spent time doing the same thing with one of my favorite local friends. A and i have always been good friends. with our varying life situations, our social encounters have been very limited the past few years. however, that never put a strain to our friendship because we were always one of those people who just picked up where we left off. of course, social media like facebook, instagram and texting has always kept as close. and then there's our love for basketball (even though we support different teams).
while our lives continued to move on neither of us knew what was going on in our personal lives. we have always been those kind of people who kept our personal situations and decisions to ourselves and giving it time to sink in before telling others. we hadn't talked for a minute there but a few months later we sent each other a simultaneous message on facebook just to say hi and that is where it all unfolded. isn't it funny and kind of strange that sometimes old friends just have that "sixth sense" that could never be replicated by any other kind of friendship. it's not necessarily about that feeling that something is going wrong, but just that serendipity or whatever you want to call it, when you reach out to someone to say hello and it was at that right moment where they needed you the most.

Thank God for friends like A! Friendships that are hassle-free and can pick up where you left off are rare, and the ones I cherish the most.
ReplyDeletethis post. <3 nothing compares to that sixth sense! or a friendship that can hold on despite distance or little communication. just recently after a time away from my bffmary, i sent her a text saying, "i hate when we get wrapped up in our own lives and we don't talk." next thing i know we're on the phone chatting up a storm, and by the end of the phone call, i feel like everything's off my shoulders. and then i go onto facebook and see her update her status about how she needed that particular phone call to happen. :)
