costa rican grub and chug

don't think i've forgotten about food and drinks.  i eat everything but pork - well, i can eat bacon and pepperoni, otherwise, no bueno. i get sick, very sick that i'd have to miss work. tsk, tsk.

{arroz con mariscos y papas fritas , seafood and rice - typical/local food}

{best tiramisu ever - none of that cream cheese stuff, it's a flan-like filling and costa rica is known for good coffee}

{churrasco, typical/local food - mixed meat}

{lubina con salsa de hongos, typical/local food - sea bass with mushroom sauce, tomato-based}

{flan de coco, typical/local food - coconut flan. the best. i love flan and custard. coconut is brulee'd on top.}

{tres leches, pan de banana, flan de coco y arroz con leche - typical/local food}

{pina colada}

{sangria de roja con manzanitas - red sangria w/ apples}

{mariscos especial de tree house - seafood special from the tree house restaurant}

{lomito con platanos fritos y verduras - beef tender loin w/ fried plantains and vegetables}

{lubina con verduras y arroz, typical/food - sea bass with vegetables and rice}

{BBC - baileys, banana and crema de coco}

{orgasmo, orgasm w/ frangelico, cream, and lots of other freakin' good things}

{costillas de barbacoa con verduras y platanos fritos, bbq ribs with vegetables and fried plantains}

{pan de almendra con helado de vanilla y crema, almond bread w/ vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. they forgot to mention it was soaked in some wonderful brandy and rum.  thank you very much.}

{pan de cinamon y secos, cinnamon and nuts bread roll}

{arroz con pollo, typical/local food - chicken with rice}

{fajitas de lomito con tocino y tortillas, typical/local food - beef tenderloin fajitas with bacon and tortillas}

{salmon con arroz y verduras y salse de pina, salmon with rice, vegetables and pineapple sauce}

{hamburgesa, yep. good 'ol american hamburger. there was a point i also ate some pringles. oh yes.}

{margarita de mango y cocteles de el patio especial, mango margarita and el patio special cocktail}

{fajitas de pollo con salsa de mole, typical/local food - chicken fajita with mole sauce. lovely.}

{some blended goodness with baileys, cream, cinnamon and something else}

{one word: hangover.}

{and this is how your pictures end up when you don't put the cocktail down at the middle of the day.}
{word of the day: turd}

{i decided to skip the booze on my last day in costa rica - age hit and i felt some dehydration. sigh.}

{unfortunately, there's STD in my water ... WTF. HA!}

i must say, costa rica has added 10 more years to my life AND 10 lbs. to my 5'4" frame, thank you very much.

and this is the end of my costa rican babble.  sorry if your ears bled hearing it over and over - all of last month and now this week.  thanks for humoring me on this subject and for the kind comments about my photos.  i'm hoping that my trip to new orleans will produce something similar or better, i am learning to become more well-versed with photography, especially street scenes, nature and architecture.  i think i'm gonna retire from blogging after this.  even i have nothing else to say.

  9. Awesome food photos, thank goodness I had a huge lunch, so it hasn't affected me yet to wanna eat. Looks like you've enjoyed yourself. And I hope you don't retire from blogging, I just became a follower. :-) I don't blog, but want to, but with the kids and all it's been hard, but I've found a great deal of satisfaction in reading other people's blogs.

  26. Drooling over the flan de coco and almond bread roll. I have a huge weakness for any kind of sponge cake/bread roll!

    You certainly got a good taste of that culture (liquor included - tee hee)!
